    The City of Rathdrum is located in the Panhandle of North Idaho, 12 miles Northwest of Coeur d’Alene and at the crossroads of Hwy. 41 and 54. Settled in 1861, it is one of the oldest towns in North Idaho and is peppered with historic buildings.

    Initially named Westwood, growth of the town began in the late 19th century due to the expansion of the Northern Pacific Railway to Spokane through Rathdrum which allowed the shipping of ore from the Silver Valley mines to the mills in Rathdrum. In the late 1800’s the name of Westwood was changed to Rathdrum.

    Today, Rathdrum is a small but thriving community of a little over 7,500, having grown more than 45% since 2000. Rathdrum offers not only a quiet way of life, but there are many activities in the area to take advantage of. Surrounded by lakes, you can choose from boating, fishing, or swimming.
